Bring back M score in PI2
Please bring back the M score in PI2. Though there is no longer scientific support to support "Morale", I still find knowing how many words were checked to be helpful.

The M Score may not be validated, however, it does provide an anecdotal level of insight into the degree of stimulus within an individual. 30 years of reviewing thousands of BA results has provided me with confidence to use it when adding that data point into a conversation with a client. -

Michael KulfanHow can a customer know if an old BA Self or Self-Concept is invalid, M less than 6, or M greater than 80?
- The Predictive Index (PI) does not recommend making decisions on Self or Self-Concept patterns that are generated with M scores below 6 or above 80. (https://www.predictiveindex.com/learn/support/factor-m/)
How can a customer know if M is less than 10 on the BA Self or Self-Concept?
- When Self M or Self-Concept M are less than 10, it is possible that patterns can appear extremely wide and not accurately reflect the true magnitude of behavioral drives. This is because when M is below 10, the BA pattern is very sensitive to very small item differences. For example, choosing two more A words with a Self M of 7 can artificially inflate the Factor A score above 3 sigma. In reality, two additional A words do not make someone extreme. Therefore, when M is below 10 for Self or Self-Concept, extreme factor patterns should be interpreted with caution. (People Data Toolkit pg. 30) -

Beth FrielPlease show the M score. While it is not validated for Morale, it does indicate that someone may be de-energized by adapting too much. It is a great indicator that can prompt a conversation. It also identifies specific needs for coaching.

BVIn addition to what others have said, I would like to add that the M score going up or down significantly in self to self concept is critical data that we use in consulting.

Bob PanicoI have been using the PI for 40 years and can tell you that there are three AHA moments. The first is when you share behavioral details that almost transcend belief. Second, the Self Concept allowing for insight into one's success in maintaining their round peg status in the whole called My Job.
Finally, harvesting the data from the M factor to share details about work style: stamina, need for focus, managing your work flow, multitasking, over multitasking (squirrel!), tips to those on both ends of the scale to better manage their day. And to employees on getting ready to support a new hire with a 22 M factor going into a highly dynamic, always changing job!
So, add my 10,000 validations from all those who concurred with the M factor analysis to your thinking on removing 1/3rd of the aha moments of the BA. (Ask me about the the CFO managing 4 departments and 37 employees for a large corporation have a 17M factor! She drank 12-15 Dr. Peppers every day!) -

Zach Adams MergedI have some spanish speaking clients, we have run into several employees who take the BA in English when they should take it in Spanish and the only indicator is the M score being a 6, 7, or 8. How will we be able to tell if someone has taken the BA in the wrong language without the M score?

BVFrom the PI tool kit:
'When Self M or Self-Concept M are less than 10, it is possible that patterns can appear extremely wide and not accurately reflect the true magnitude of behavioral drives. This is because when M is below 10, the BA pattern is very sensitive to very small item differences. For example, choosing two more A words with a Self M of 7 can artificially inflate the Factor A score above 3 sigma. In reality, two additional A words do not make someone extreme. Therefore, when M is below 10 for Self or Self-Concept, extreme factor patterns should be interpreted with caution."
Without M score visibility, how can we properly interpret results based on the above? -

Brian GeltM may not be validated science, but there are many ways it is useful. Don't take it away from clients that rely on it.

Rhonda HI'm in the minority here but if it has not been validated that it does tell us something concrete about a person it seems risky for clients to use it for any sort of decision making. I recall way back when I was a client being told to not hire people with low M and it caused us to miss out on some great candidates. Had we known back then it wasn't valid and received that advice the company would have probably sued.

Mie MergedInclude an alert in the software if a BA has less than 10 or more than 76 responses to self with a note produced by the science team in line with "the profile may be 'articificially' wide".

BV MergedWhile I appreciate the idea behind this, I still feel having the # of words checked visible to consultants/trained analysts would be the right solution.
Having this disclaimer would likely raise more questions/validity concerns from clients. -

Caraline O'Brien Admin MergedThank you for the feedback! We have an existing feature upvote submission about M score that we would like to track this feedback under so it's all in one place. This submission will now be merged as a comment. You can access it here: https://hiremodule.featureupvote.com/suggestions/546419/bring-back-m-score-in-pi2

Alex Tompkins AdminSplitting over 2 Comments. Thank you for the comments and suggestions. We are incorporating this work into our roadmap but with some changes. As detailed in the November 4th All Network Webinar, we will be providing text and a numeric value in the Download report within Inspire Only. It will not be included in the BA Report for Candidates in Hire. This numerical value will not be called "M-Score". It will be labeled "Number of Items Selected" and will have a value for both Self and Self-Concept. As part of the status change of this Feature suggestion, we are also moving it to the Inspire feature board from Hire's page (here on feature upvote). Some additional background - The decision was made to remove M from the behavioral assessment reports in PI2 because there is currently no evidence to support use of M in workforce decision-making. Further, internal research has not provided a strong indication that M provides any meaning or value beyond its scoring mechanism.

Alex Tompkins AdminPartners should not be promulgating M score through workshops, webinars, or client interactions. More information can be found here: https://predictiveindex.seismic.com/app#/contentmanager/detail/1/4bcaddfd-a9c3-4be1-8b54-d5d652d10ae9/info/List/title

Sarah Mulvey AdminMarked as "Done" as "Number of items selected" is now available in the downloadable version of the BA report in Inspire 2. Please note that as previously noted in the comments, partners should not encourage clients to use or interpret number of items selected as this is not a scientifically validated use case for this data point.
